Some food for your thoughts:

As it stands now you are able to trigger an output rule on approval of Sales Credit Notes within the IQ (i.e.: sending credit notes to customers automatically) .

This functionality is missing from Sales Return Notes.
It would be a good idea to be able to trigger output rules upon converting a Return Note to a Credit Note
